3 goals for 2016
I've been thinking about goals and resolutions a lot lately. I know that's to be expected, but this is the first time I've been thinking about them in regards to business. A lot of things have been on my mind that we really want to incorporate in the coming year. They are traits we want to exemplify both personally and as a design firm, traits that we want to illustrate in the core of our business - that help us make upcoming decisions.
There are a lot of people out there who will say that new year's resolutions are a waste of time, that most people give up on their goals within the first few weeks. But we say that any time is a good time to make goals for ourselves. We hope you'll take some time this year to re-evaluate and make some for yourself. So here goes! Three goals from Akin Design Studio.
1. BE DIFFERENT
This is the number one thought we've had running through our minds. We want to be different. Now before we get too far, we want to clarify... We don't want to be different just for the sake of being different. We want to be original, to go down roads less traveled, and to create designs unique to every client.
We want to make waves and do some unexpected things. We want to create customized pieces and products. We want to continually challenge ourselves to think outside of the box. Although this may equate to more work occasionally, we believe it is what our clients deserve - to have a space designed just for them and for their needs.
2. BE HARDWORKING
As Frank Lloyd Wright said, "You have to go wholeheartedly into anything in order to achieve anything worth having." We are fans of hard work. It is something we are passionate about. With enough hard work, we think all dreams are possible. This is what gets me tired enough to sleep at night and excited enough to wake up in the morning.
This also translates into how we want to treat those we work with. We want to deliver the highest level of service we can generate. We will strive to always stay on top of our work, responding to all the tasks asked of us and to go the extra mile with every project.
As "they" (I'm not sure who 'they' is) say, nothing worth having every comes easy!
3. BE POSITIVE
While working hard and being different, we believe there is always joy to be had in every journey. We love our work and the jobs that we get to do, and we want all of you to love the process as well. We feel it is extremely important to help our clients have a positive experience with something that might typically cause stress or anxiety. We want to lift the burden off of your shoulders and make it a memorable time of life!
Having a good attitude about work and life can totally change the quality of the life you lead. We believe that this is instrumental in creating beauty in every day. Best part about this goal?? It's just a choice! It's not always an easy choice, but it is a simple decision whether to be positive or not.
So this year, we are going to remember to always choose happiness!
We came to a realization recently that we were waiting. Waiting to take risks, to try new things, and to work for our dreams. So we buckled up and jumped into a world of unknown.
We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives and for what 2016 will bring. We love the renewed sense of determination that gets us out of bed every day, that motivates us to chase our dreams one at a time. With these goals in mind, we hope to be able to grow our business the way we've always thought a business should be run. We hope you'll follow along on the ride!
